Ludwig van Beethoven
Symphonies No. 5,4
Czech Chamber Philharmonic
Petr Vronský
The current understanding of Beethoven´s symphonical compositions ideally complies with the conception of Petr Vronský. The rhythmic precision, the exactly and down to details elaborated dynamics, the excellently balanced sound of string and wind instrument sections – such are the principal signs of Vronský´s style.
Should I characterize Vronský´s conception of Beethoven´s symphonic music, I would say that it is not a demonic but a deeply human Beethoven. How beautifuly melodious and simple are both slow movements of the symphonies, and without any trace of romantic sentimentality! The fast movements are – in contrast – full of temperament, fire and optimism. The final movement of the 5th symphony is properly solemn. Simply told it is a beautiful recording in a conception which certainly is closely related to the contemporary listener. It is also necessary to commend the orchestra of Czech Chamber Philharmonic for the very precise phrasing aside from the rhythmically precise playing and clear sound. The performances presented in several soli of wood-winds merit attention as well.
