Fireworks of Classic

„Fireworks of Classic“ is a project which the Czech Chamber Philharmonic has worked on already for about 2 years. The idea to interpret the superlatives of the classical music is certainly not something original but it expresses a new trend which attracts the audience to concert halls just through the popularity of the works performed. In the effort to also interpret works not originally written for chamber orchestras, the Czech Chamber Philharmonic asked the composer and conductor Karel Bělohoubek to prepare a new instrumentation of classic hits for Czech Chamber Philharmonic. One composition after another was created until it was possible to present the programme before an audience. Due to a constellation of favourable conditions the first-night performance took place in Berlin on 14. 10. 2000. As a result of the great success of the programme (the orchestra played it more than fifteen times only in Berlin Philharmonic) an idea came about to record all these original and tasteful arrangements on CD.

For the recording of selected arranged compositions the orchestra chose the German conductor Klaus Linkel. Thanks to the interest of the Japanese firm Nishimura a real international cooperation originated the firm also implementing a recording for DVD AUDIO. The Czech Chamber Philharmonic became one of the first Czech interpreting bodies presenting themselves on DVD-AUDIO /2003/ carriers.

The first CD was recorded by the „one point recording“ method in May 2002 under the title „Fireworks of Classic“ /GZ Media Loděnice 2003/ in the Church of the Sts. Simon and Judah in Prague that can offer suitable acoustics with an optimum halo required for this kind of recording.

Since the „Fireworks of Classic“ found great success – the entire team decided to perform further CD recordings under the title „Fireworks of Classic II“, /GZ Media Loděnice 2003/ this time the recording was performed in the Konzertkirche in Neubrandenburg (Germany) in May 2003.

The Czech Chamber Philharmonic recorded world Christmas melodies by the „one point recording” method with the same professional team and the CD was issued under the title „Christmas Dreaming“/GZ Digital Media Loděnice 2002/.

Works of a similar genre were recorded on the profile CD of the artistic leader of the Czech Chamber Philharmonic Zdeněk Adam (Oboe, Oboe d´amore, English horn) edited under the title „Concerto-Sentimento-Lyrico“ (GZ Digital Media Loděnice 2004).

For the year 2008 is in plan recording of the third CD "Fireworks of Classic III" and afterwards will be issued complete series of three CDs.

From the rich offer of the adapted titles from the world music literature there can be set optional thematic programmes that would all fulfil following criteria: favour, reputation and popularity among the public. The Czech Chamber Philharmonic will always add to this its virtuous interpretation connected with an unforgettable musical experience for the listeners.
